Depends on what ants you are talking about

some ants like sweet stuff

Try leaving some bread and jam or honey around ,
in the ant season
and you will see them homing in on it , in droves .

Some ants are carnivorous
living on other insects and even caterpillars

some ants are scavengers that will eat or take to their nest anything they can find that is edible .

But ants love sweet stuff above all .

They are attracted to really sweet foods. Foods with a lot of sugar. I used to have an ant farm and I fed them PopTarts.
