It can be very nerveracking. I've gone on lots of auditions for plays adn I've been in 9 productions, but I still get nervous! Even if it's for the local theatre company I'm in and I've done shows for them 3 times already, I still get nervous in front of th edirector. Just be prepared, practice alot, and this will allow you to be more comfortable and confident...but NEVER GET COCKY! That's worse than nerves. it's ok to have butterflies because you're putting yourself out there. You'll do great.

It depends all on you. If you are a outgoing, extroverted individual then it shouldn't be scary. YES you may get a little nervous, just knowing that at any point during the audition you could say or do something stupid out of nervousness, but you should be a-okay! If you are a shy person, it could be one of the most terrifying experiences of your life! I think of every audition as a new learning experience though. And say if you were interested in pursuing an acting career then you will have to find some way to get over your "stage fright:"! But *break a leg*

I don't know if I would say scary. It's more of a nervousness. After auditioning a couple of times it may get better. But sometimes the nerves stick with you all the way until the performance. The best thing to to is just forget about the fact that they're judging you and just do your monologue like you would at home in front of a mirror. Hope this helps.

Inexperienced actors tend to find the audition process a little unnerving. As you progress as a performer, however, you begin to appreciate the fact that every audition is an OPPORTUNITY to show off your good work to people who -- let's face it -- are there to enjoy it.

Ultimately, most actors find auditions challenging, invigorating...and even FUN!

Yes it is, but you shouldn't approach it with so much fear that it hinders your performance because auditions are just the beginning. You'll be nervous and scared right before you perform too.

Shkspr got it on the nose. Professionals love 'em. That's what we do. Nothing to fear. I've never heard of anyone dying from a bad performance.

not at all,
at first it is, because ur not sure what to expect, but after some experience you just learn to work with it.
its exciting & sometimes scarry i guess because u dunno what they will think, you dunno what they will say, weather they will call back or not...
so, i guess its is a little scarry, but you learn to get over that fear as time progresses.
