Wish that it was possible for you. Microsoft does not even support Windows 2000 or 2000 Sever. Actually Windows does not support anything prior to Windows XP SP2. (Many people have Windows 98 and up but they are not supported with critical updates). You have to really keep up with their platforms and technology.

To purchase Windows 2000 is a waste of money for the above reasons. There is no way that you can download a free version of any Microsoft Windows platforms. (You have to purchase and have a valid key that will pass their "WGA, (windows genuine advantage test to make sure the key is valid and not stolen).

You should purhcase a very small item from an OEM company and then they will sell you Windows XP Home or Pro, for around $100 with a vaild key.

I took Windows 2000 off of my computer. I didn't like it at all. Maybe your dad has experience with it and likes it. You wont find a free download over the net. That's software piracy and totally illegal. You could try eBay. They always have operating systems for sale.
