Hello,
Im thinking of buying either a Proxxon or Dremmel for use with making metal crafts.

Ive seen plenty of Dremmel stuff. But someone recommended Proxxon.

Anyone know anything about Proxxon?

Whats the difference between the two makes if any?
What would be the one that would last the longest and not fall to bits? Also easy enough to get accessories etc.

Thanks

Hello Chloe,

Well a Dremel tool is quite versitile and can be used for a wide variety of materials such as metal because the tool heads are small and very in different configurations however the Proxxon tool is strictly for carving wood and can't be used for metal. The proxxon tool uses strokes or up and motion with chisel heads and the dremel tool uses r.p.m's or revolutions per minute and has heads that can be used for metal. My recommendation to you would be to get the dremmel and use heads that have carbide in them for carbide will last alot longer. Proxxon does make a rotary tool like a dremmel however it is made in germany and dremmel is made in the usa.

I ahve never heard of Proxxon. I would go with Dremmel. At least you know you can get a multitude of attatchments for it and they have that new cordless handheld model out now that is supposed to have an extended battery life.

SORRY I DONT KNOW ANYTHIN ABOUT PROXXON BUT I CAN DEF RECOMMEND DREMMAL, AS I HAVE ONE AND I USE IT FOR ENGRAVING HOME MADE TRINKET BOXES AND PENDENTS ECT! IT IS REALLY GOOD AND THERE ARE SO MANY ADD ONS YOU CAN GET FOR IT!!! THINK WILL BE EASIER TO GET REPLACEMENTS AND EXTRAS FOR DREMMEL AS IT IS MORE WELL KNOWN I PRESUME, AS I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF PROXXON! HOPE THIS HELPS IF NOT TRY ASKING YOUR QUESTION IN THE HOBBIES AND CRAFTS SECTION!!! GOOD LUCK!
