Hello Friends,
I traded a nice Aussie saddle for misc. things to a couple in a group we are in.
Just this morning we get a phone call wanting to trade the saddle back. We had already traded off a few of the things from this trade...and they had it on there horse so we do not know what kind of condition this saddle is now in.
I did not talk to the lady, but Mr. took the phone call and told me she wants to trade back.
This puts us in a BIG bind. I have been trading around most my life and can not remember when someone did this to me in the past. A trade is a trade. If they bought this saddle from us this would have been a little diffarent....I would have put the money aside. However they needed a saddle and did not have the money to pay for it.
What would you do, or what are your thoughts...

I will add the saddle while in our hands was very clean and no ware was present. We do not no what to do with the items we already traded, sold off that was part of this deal.
We are new to this group where we met these people. This brings up a hole host of problems. These people know everyone while we only know a few people in the group. So politics is involved....

Add, nothing wrong with the saddle at all, very sound. I was gong to use it on my young filly, but for health reasons this has to be put off. We told them we have a nice roping saddle they have a option to have as well. They choose this Aussie saddle for it looks flashy.

You are under no obligation to trade back, If the trade was made in good faith. If they saw the saddle and checked it out before hand, like you stated a trade is a trade. The trade should be honored. If they found out the saddle had a broken tree or something like that, It would be a different story. If the saddle is sound, I see no reason for them to want to trade back.

Tell them exactly what you said here - that a trade is a trade and you've already traded off a few of the items they exchanged for the saddle. Tell them to place an ad to sell the saddle, or to trade, once again, for something else.
They won't be happy, but that isn't your fault. You traded in good faith.

Well your going to have to feel them out. Again like you said a trade is a little differnt than a buy. First you need to find out the reason why they want to trade it back. Defective reasons or they ejust decided they don't want it. If something is wrong with it for some reason and you are ok with takeing it back explain to them that you have already traded some of the stuff that they gave you but that you would be willing to come to a compromise about what to trade it back for...If they are jsut returning it because they don't want it I think you have even MORE ground to stand on!! Explain again that (if your willing for the politics of it) You sold some of their stuff but that you would be willing to take it back in exchange for something else! That is my advice!! I would believe most people would understand!

Be honest foremost and tell them due to the trade you had to trade/sell some of the items that was traded. They traded the items for the saddle and now its their saddle so allow them to trade it off or sell saddle. No contract was signed and it was a gentleman agreement of the items.

Kindly let these people know that the deal was done. Being you've done traded off some of the things you all traded to begin with, they can either sale or trade to someone else. Case Closed.

in the adventure that your getting a nicer sort bridle it would be worth it i take advantage of a happy mouth bit on my horse and prefer it yet thats no longer the element lol, If the bridle sort is a effective one and that i might do slightly analyze if human beings like the kind than the commerce may be sturdy yet while the hot bridle is far less costly the commerce wouldnt be common yet thats my opinion

Talk to someone in the group you feel comfortable with. This may have happened before, as it tends to go on in groups like this.

Do what you think is best and unless you told them they can give it back if they did not want it you have no obligation to them.
