1. The indicator has been designed based on salary levels prevailing as on 1.5.2005 and will be updated regularly.
2. Salary means gross pre-tax salary (CTC) inclusive of all components (monthly, annual, retiral and deferred payments).
3. Accuracy levels: It is our expectation that the salary indicator will be 90% accurate within a band of +/- 20% of the indicated salary figure i.e. 90% of persons will fall within the band.
CTC refers to "COST TO COMPANY "
this includes : GROSS SALARY + incentives that are provided from the firm .
incentives includes many things like meal , medical facilities, phone facilities, house facilities , travel allowance etc.
THE SUM OF ALL THE REWARDS AND BENEFITS PROVIDED TO AN EMPLOYEE FROM THE EMPLOYER + THE SALARY IS TERMED AS "COST TO COMPANY"

CTC basically stands for fee TO company...that is the full quantity the agency is willing to spend on its worker...the ctc includes the gross income and the such things as HRA(domestic rent allowance),petrol allowance and perqs if any...the CTC isn't always the amount so that it will be directly taxed...

CTC expands to cost to company..this salary is what bogs down many people because the housing, travelling etc expednitures are not met by the company but by the individual alone....the company does not have any allowance for this..........so the ent income one is having consists of his housing rent and travelling expenses

the pf i.e. deducted from the gross and the same amount is added by the employer to the employee PF account...so that addition could be considerd in the sum of the CTC?
