Paganism is not so much a religion but an umbrella term which covers many different religions which beleive in more than one god. Many pagans beleive in the duality of deity as is seen in the natural world basically god and goddess in their male and female form (even flowers and plants have male and female reproductive organs), many others beleive in an even more polytheistic view which can be seen in the "old ways" of the greeks and romans, and the lesser known celts or druids (those are just SOME of the examples!), and some combine the two by recognising different aspects of their personal respective Gods and Goddesses in the dual God and Triple Goddess.
It is a bit like saying that all christians are catholic to call paganism a religion in the same light - all catholics are christian but not all christians are catholic, the same can be said for paganism.
So as such paganism is not the fastest growing religion but possibly the fastest growing philosophy as the world turns away from patriarchal society into a more balanced male-female eqaulity, spiritual people in this balanced world also feel a need to turn to more representative beleif systems which mirror the outside as well as the inner spiritual world.
I am sure that MANY would have different ideas of what Paganism represents - but the fastest growing spirituality based philosophy? I don't know, because basically there are many many pagan religions in the world, some of which known and recognised (such as the chinese religious traditions) and many others in the west which are underground and have no political recognition so the truth could never be known with accuracy.

To the questioner...we are considered pagan if we believe in something other than Christianity or Islam or Catholicism or the other major religions out there. It is considered its own religion by some, but not by others. As you can see by your other answers.

olli-OK. I'll pick it up. Just because we don't believe in what you do, does not mean negative values. That's just an ignorant way of thinking. One God...Several Gods, either way, we can live with good morals. Don't assume that we are negatively living because we don't worship the same as you. I believe in harming none, respecting humans, animal, the Earth...if that is negative to you, you have some serious issues to work out.
Peace to you and Blessed be to all!

Religion - A framework of beliefs relating to supernatural or superhuman beings or forces that transcend the everyday material world.

That is within Paganism even if values are broad and vague they still exist. Just isn't monotheistic

Paganism is not a religion nor a value system.
First of all I think the word paganism is derived from Greek word: paganus! To my level of understanding it means one from the country or not a city dweller! In this regard what we tend to refer pagans is not a religion. Rather it is an attitude of refusing to believe in God. Thus this being a negative attitude it tends to lean on a negative virtues. somebody out there pick it up,

have you ever heard the asserting "ask 3 Pagans what Paganism is and you gets 5 solutions" ? if your cousin is a sparkling Pagan even she won't be sure the place her path leads. inspire her to apply you as a sounding board once you're the two gentle with that. That way you get to understand her view factors and she or he gets to formulate her ideals. Badger xx

Technically any person who follows any non-Christian religion is a pagan. That is what the word means. Just like a gentile is a non-Jew.

Of course it is a religion. Don't get caught up on the idea that religion is just about believing in one god.

If it is fast-growing, it is because people are disillusioned with the self-seeking elements of other religions.

I think you could call it a religion. It was what people believed in before Christianity was introduced to this land.
