there are two ways to do this. after applying first coat, wait to see if its dry, different mascaras have different affects. sometimes when its dry it looks glossy so be careful. if you want your lashes longer, apply mascara at the tip of your lashes form the first coat. long and thicker, apply it all the way through. the more coats you apply all the way through, the thicker it'll be so that is the time to use a lash comb to get rid of clumps. but not all mascara have clumps even though you apply a few more coats like estee lauder maximum curling mascara.
if you don't want to wait and apply lots of coats, try this method it might work cos it works on me very well. when applying your first coat, brush your lashes very fast from root to tip for a few times. or maybe use zig-zag method which is brush your lashes in a zig-zag way, some people think it gives you clumps but it never happen to me. you have to brush it faster cos it might go dry if you leave it for a while. hope this information helps you.

Definitely wait till the first coat's dry. But don't go for a 3rd coat, if you want the mascara to last long. It might cause the the mascara to flake off. And combing should actually be done while the mascara is still wet. That way you don't damage the lashes.

Once the first application has dried, apply a second. For thicker lashes, carefully apply mascara to the upper side of the lashes as well. Wait and let it dry before you continue
Use your tgcosmetics mascara applicator spiral brush or lash comb to give lashes a final brush-through after they’ve dried to remove any clumps and give lashes a more natural look.

Definately let each coat dry. It sounds weird, but I use a toothpick when I have a couple of lashes that are sticking together - just be careful and don't poke yourself! If you're going for length - on the second coat, hold your mascara brush verticle (up and down) draw the brush up, and cover your lashes that way. Also curl your lashes before you put on your mascara (don't use it after, it could cause your lashes to break, and it makes your curler all yucky) Hope i helped!

wait around 30 seconds. Each application should be almost dry, but not quite.
For de-clumping you might want to buy a special brush/comb, or use an old mascara brush that has very little product left on it.
Just make sure it is washed and cleaned before doing this.

You may want to try the Mary Kay Ultimate mascara. I have customers that used to apply two or three coats of their prior brand, and only need one of the Ultimate mascara. It doesn't clump and it stays on all day. It's GREAT stuff. You can request a sample if you'd like to give it a try.

I dont apply a second coat. Make-up is to accentuate beauty not to totally overshadow what you have.
