According to reasearch Ive done on the net we dont NEED a draft as more people have chosen to enlist in the military for this war than any other. Freedom of choice plays a great part in that I think. No-one likes to be told they HAVE to do anything. I agree with most of the answers you have been given here except for the one who said this is not a "real" war..sorry but war is war no matter the reason it is happening. Just ask my 19 yr old nephew who voluntarily enlisted and now is in Baghdad,Iraq serving his country as a Medic, leaving Kentucky just one day after his highschool graduation with the Mountain Warriors, he will tell you its VERY REAL!! He can tell you that the deathtoll is very high, and that it is a lot worse in Iraq than most people think. We here are cushioned from seeing what war is firsthand, he isnt. We havent had a war on American soil in ages, so, although I disagree with Bush putting the US into this war, please support our soldiers and all they do keep us safe and free here at home.

We have to stop hating him, he will be gone soon and hating him all the while has taken time and energy away from supporting our American family. Please stop now. I did, I finally shut my mouth about Bush. My feelings about him will not change the fact that we need help. Think about it, you have smarts, realize and deal with things, we have to protect our kids, our neighbors, our elders, who have done this for us. Lately, I have been thinking about how I can get over there, if enough of us in our late 20's and 30's think about enlisting, then we won't have to draft the kids...

It depends. If there was just cause for the draft... i.e: Major "Real" war, then i would say yes. Whereas, if it's for some unjust, irrational, barbaric, inhumane, pom-pas war like the current ones that he as orchestrated... then I would have to say that the draft can happen once all his relatives too enlist and go to the front line.

no! i support a draft if America was fighting a war that actually would be in the best interest of our country. not just a war that is turning the world against us and helping billionaires get richer off middle eastern resources.

I don't like the draft. But if I had to, I would serve my country in that way. Plus, Bush is not having a draft.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
bush is a sorry excuse for a human. if he insits on a draft
then i hope someone 'insists' to pick a new, correct in
the head, president. nothing good will come from drafting, the whole
war in Iraq is one of the stupidist wars. im surprised it lasted this long, i think bush is stubborn if he doesn't end it soon.

No, but Bush will not insist, as it makes the GOP look like warmongers.
he is content to let Rangel ( and the Dems) bear the brunt of this legislation
