Prune juice will do the trick, but DO NOT give it to the baby straight. The acidity is too much for the baby's stomach. When you make the baby's bottle, substitute an ounce of water with an ounce of prune juice. Do this once a day, every day, until the baby has a bowel movement. I did this with my baby and it worked great. I actually did it every day as maintenance until she was about 10 months old. Good luck! I think the next bowel movement is going to be KILLA!! LOL

My daughter was about that age and use to get a protracted rectum because she was so constipated and it did not matter what foods I hgave her she was still constipated and I would get so angry at people saying "Give her whole grains, give her water, give her vegetables. Anyway after many agrumenst with doctors and other professionals I went to a specialist and was told she would grow out of it and to give her parachoc. Parachoc is a mixture of parmacutical paraphin and choc flavouring in her melk and she was fine. She is now a four year old and started going to the toilet normally at about 14 months. PARACHOC bought from the chemist or if they dont have it find something else like it .

I rang the health visitor in a panic when my little one hadnt been for 5 days! I was giving him alot of apple and banana which apparently bung em ep, so she suggested pureed carrot which worked a treat (along with knocking the banana on the head for a couple of days) Another thing I found that worked well, was getting a tin of prunes (they sell em in Lidls etc) and getting the stones out, then blending it up. They are in syrup I think so should be no bother getting them to eat them. Watch out at the other end though!!! Good luck. ;o)

Are you transitioning between breast milk and solid foods, or just recently introduced them to her diet? This happened to my daughter during that transition period. I increased her breastmilk consumption and that helped her work through most of it. My peditrician told me, diluted apple juice may help, and some times just a little stimulation around that area with a wipie could be all she needs to produce a BM. If the fluid increase or juice, doesn't help and/or the stimulation, there are suppositories available through your doctors office that are effective, but have to be inserted and left in place for a few minutes. It is not a very pleasent experience for either of you, so try the fluids first. Take care of your little one, they are such a joy and grow up fast. Best wishes!

For my baby i swear by giving three table spoons of either fresh orange juice or apple juice in warm previously boiled water at least twice maybe three times throughout the day give about five ounces and let them drink as much or as little as they like. You should see a result by at least the next day.....Good luck

I agree with the other two, prune juice is the classic method for giving someone diarrhea, and too much apple juice tends to do the trick, too.

HOWEVER, you need to be aware that anyone who has diarrhea for any reason MUST drink lots of water. When your baby starts flowing, make sure to give her plenty of water to keep her hydrated.

I would not give anything without consulting a doctor first just ring the surgery and ask their opinion or go to the chemist and ask their advice - in the meantime just confort her with love and a gentle stomach massage.

All you need to do is lather a little bit of soap on a q-tip and but it inside a little bit probably want to use quite abit of soap(not the whole bar or anything just a little sliver) and with in minutes baby will be pooping, now the baby probably be freaking out trying to get it out but trust me it will come out and the baby won't be constipated anymore.

Prune juice. You might find it easier to administer via one of those plastic syringe type things which come with some Neurofen for kids bottles as prune juice is not to everyone's taste! The other thing is of course don't worry she'll be okay!
