Soccer is not really the correct name, it is football. And it is the sport with the most amount of fans worldwide. The football world cup is held every 4 years and it is one of the biggest events of the world.
Countries from all the continents participate and it is truly a grand party. USA has never been a contender for a high ranking in the sport, it is ruled mainly by south americans and europeans.

I truly do believe that if you play a game or two, full 90 minute games, with your lungs screaming, your body aching, you will change your mind. Also, if you do play that game or two, you will probably realize that soccer is not only a sport, but it is an amazing sport that you will most likely love.

To some people it is and to some people it isn't. But to the nation soccer is a sport. I'm a cheerleader and most people don't consider that a sport but I do. Yes, soccer is a sport.

I think the upper leagues in the UK are becoming more of a staged entertainment for the TV, there's too much money involved and the "sporting" aspect is lost in a sea of arguments wiht the referees and diving and complaining and just plain cheating.
