Here is an interesting anecdote on judging by looks. I was in the US Army and during my training, I became good friends with another member of my platoon. We had a laugh and really got on well.
After the initial 6 weeks was up, we got a bit of R&R and she and I decided to go out on the town Friday night. Keep in mind we were in uniform for the whole time. We both got our civilian clothes and dressed for the evening.
I met her in the "common area" ready to go out and to my surprise, where I was dressed in complete goth gear; long black dress, corset, hair all over the place and make-up applied with a trowel; she showed up wearing Wranglers, cowboy boots, western shirt and a belt with a melted down Buick for a belt buckle.
It never occurred to either one of us to ask how the other one dressed or even what music we liked or our interests. We were in fatigues or Army dress all the time and had no choice but to take people as they come.
Cool, huh?
I have also very simply looked into a person's eyes to find out everything I want to know about them. It's much easier than looking at the outside.

Yes in the past I have judged someone on the way they looked. When I look back at it now, I regret it because I got to know those people that I have judged. Most of them are really great heart to heart people. I know I get judged by the way I look a lot. Who doesn't get judged? Now I try to get to know the person before I judge them.

I work in a shop and its hard not to judge someone by how they look. I would never discriminate against them though and i have been right and wrong about people. I am the sot of person that talks to anyone, on the bus, in a queue what ever they look like.

I think everyone does.. at least initially.

I always think it is more interesting when you have struck up a rapport with someone at work on the phone, but you don't meet them in person for ages. When you finally meet them, it is always a shock. They never look like the face you have in your mind. Sometimes the happy chirpy person you have been having a laugh with for months looks like the spawn of satan. And the important thing is that after the initial shock of it, you have a laugh and then continue as normal.

Just goes to prove that initial impressions mean absolutely nothing in the long term.

Yes, it's normal. Some time ago I did a bit of research on this. Dressed as a bit of a slob with coarsened local accent I was treated by professional people (medics, teachers etc) much more cursorily and rudely than when I appeared as a blue-collar worker and different again when I presented myself as a professional equal. Very interesting. It seems we assess by speech accent, clothing, cleanliness/hygiene, temper (friendly/uncooperative) and facial prettiness.and it seems we can't help it even when we're very wrong! Now I try not to do it.

i don't think you're being honest. EVERYONE judges! Some more harshly than others. The only difference is some people take the time to find out if their judgements are true or not. I'd like to say I don't, but I do. But like you, i get to know them and have no problem holding my hands up and saying "sorry i was wrong about you"

nicely yeah... to a pair volume. I mean, why date somebody in case you're no longer interested in them? If i do no longer likely locate somebody eye-catching, that would not recommend i will forget approximately them... I purely won't take issues extra. seems assume assembly. Like as quickly as I first meet somebody, i will word their seems. i will admit it rather is what catches my interest and in part makes me prefer to get to recognize somebody extra useful. yet seems are not each and every thing. they only flow so a approaches. you could nicely be wonderful yet once you have a crappy character.. I easily probably would not even talk with them. this is purely me. In extreme college i became somewhat superficial, and that i will admit i would not flow out with somebody because of the fact of embarrassment (i think of it rather is the comparable for women folk too). yet it rather isn't any longer the case now that i'm older.

No I would never judge someone on their looks, who am I to do that, I'm not perfect myself, I prefer to get to know someone first and make my mind up from then on, I think its really shallow judging people on first impressions and by their looks.

what if they look really good but turn out to be a complete ***.
i mean you may get lucky and they may look good and be funny as **** and supernice.
tech. if you judge people by how they look or how much $$ they have you may just come up short.
i try not to judge because you just dont know what the other person has been through.
plus i like flaws.

To a certain extent, yes. How someone presents themselves can tell you a lot about them. Have they made an effort to identify with a certain group? Do they look like they care about their appearance? Are they deliberately obeying or flouting social norms? It's not always fair, but I'm always willing to re-evaluate with more information.
