well it means they are efficiently doing their job. Not day dreaming, and not off talking to people, just doing what they are paid to do, and doing a good job of it.

If a man takes a Viagra at work, then that is a different type of hard at work...lol then they gonna be in the stall working hard at unhardening themselves.

It is a nice euphemism that they are kind of coasting along at work.

However, it means they are involved in the work that they are assigned to do.

probably hardworking, if u work in a office area enviroment. If you got a low paying job, it could mean that they are "hard" or mean.
