In 1998 a famliy member was raped and she did not report is it to late to report now I heard that if it was before 2001 you had only 5 years to report but now after 2001 they changed it to 10 years

Depends on the State laws you can check by calling the office of the State Attorney General in your State

They all have web sites

I think it is 10 years in most states. Some states have no statue of limitations on this crime.

But my question is why is she only wanting to report it now? This is probably indefensible in court due to no evidence.

i think it depends on what state you live in, or where the crime occured. I would definately go to the police and check into it though. That jerk needs to be reported so he wont rape anyone else ever again.

There are 50 different state laws on this. Rape is not a federal crime.

yeh i think so, but i do not know!! i think that girl should have really reported it to the police when she had the chance they could have had a better chance of finding the guy who did it!!!!
