There's two parts to the solution:

One:

You have to understand that the 120 people being killed isn't the only thing that happened yesterday. You have to think about what your media doesn't find important enough to tell you, or important enough to make sure you don't know.

Here's the thing: Some of you think you're against the war. You're not. You don't even know what's happening, how could you possibly be against something you don't even know about?

Realizing that the media blackout on the truth is the first step to resolving the Iraq situation. People have to recognize that they are being kept in the dark, and go have conversations with people that have actually served in Iraq, and find out what projects are going on, what the majority of Iraqis they meet think. Only then can you hope to know what the "war" is, and decide if you are for or against it.

Two:

We need to realize this is not a conventional war, it's not a guerrilla war, it's not even a civil war. It's a gang war. When the Pentagon finally gets the paradigm right and brings in some inner city police chiefs that have successfully fought this kind of war, we will see some progress.

As a final note, please, don't anyone say "I'm against the war but support the troops". If no service member has eaten dinner at your table in the last 18 months, you do not support the troops.

What exact situation are you talking about here ??
There are literally thousands of situations within Iraq !!
Are you talking about the troops that are there engaged in a drama of repeat action---repeat results---repeat action--repeat results---repeat action----etc etc etc etc------OR are you talking about the civil war between the various factions of religious views , ethnic differences and cultural tribal wars ???
Or are you talking about the situation that exists in the political arena where the U S is saying that they are encouraging the free will democratic establishment of a free and independant Iraqi government while all the time coaching and prodding the results of votes and appointments and wording to documents and etc etc etc etc etc------
Or are you talking about the situation that exists within the economy of the place so ravaged at this point by blood shed and war---and so corrupted by the input of billions of U S development money that the "kick back" "pay olla" "blackmarket" influences are literally run amuck !!
Or are you talkling of the situation that exists where they are still holding to a "stay the course" mindset even though they are telling everyone here that they are approaching this thing with "new eyes" ???
Or the situation where American taxpayers of a distant removed future are being strapped to a debt so deep and wide for the "reconstruction" of a place that is still continually being destroyed----and most of that contract money going to companies that the now sitting vice-president has extremely hard line ties to economically ????

Pick one and then come back and state it---then I will try to give you an answer that will fit----until then --- you've understated the "situation" thing--and as stated there is no way to even attempt an answer---it is too complex---too engrained ---and too too much !!!!

Resolution may not be a realistic goal for the next 5 years. WHat may be in the cards- and what the UN, and the rest of the worl is shooting for, is a working stalemate- a non violent collaboration of sorts as ground for building a cornerstone for the country to spring the rebuilding from. What is at war are the ones who want to get on with rebuilding and life in general and the ones who keep thwarting their efforts.

Hard to say at this point. We are in for much of the same while Bush is president. After 2008 we will have to face reality. What form that will take is unknown. This could be like Vietnam and we may be slogging it out for the next ten years until the American people finally have had enough of this lunacy.

Let Saddam go free he kept the country quiet for many years. Of course he may continue killing the odd 8,000 Kurds which is vastly more than what has died before we tried to help. The same as Afghanistan which has been a mess since before WW2
Then if you legalise the trade in Heroin and pull out they will have nothing worth fighting about

then let the good people go back home so they can live without worry that bombs are goin to go off all the time
