i am 17 and this is my first time with a checking account

i have two checks i want to cash and i want to deposit some of each of them

on my bank deposit check, where it says "*Less cash received", is that where you write how much cash you want from the check??

I work at a bank, so this is the easiest way that won't confuse newer tellers. If you have enough money in your account to cover the checks, just cash them and then deposit how much you want, and keep the excess. This way the money you deposit goes in as cash, so it's already available versus waiting the 2 or more days for the checks to clear. Otherwise, what you said was correct.

Yes, you write in the amount in cash that you want on that line. Say you have $1000 total in checksl, you only want to deposit $600 you would write $400 on that line.
