The Steelers only have a shot at three spots.

First, division title...Ravens have that at the moment and are four games up on the Steelers. With six to go, odds are pretty good Pittsburgh will not win the division.

Two wildcard spots. Currently, spots are held by Chiefs and Broncos, both 2-1/2 games ahead of the Steelers. More likely, yes but let me deal with these two one at a time.

First, the Broncos have already beaten the Steelers and, as such, basically puts the Broncos up by three...that plus the fact that the Broncos have the unusual treat of closing the season with two straight home games (rare Broncos end the year at home).

Second, the Chiefs seem to have turned things up a notch with Green back at QB. The Chiefs also should win three of their last five based on the schedule (I'm beating they lose to Ravens and Chargers...and will beat a good Jag team Dec 31 in Kansas City if for weather alone)

If either of these two falter, Miami has gotten hot and is still ahead. There is even a rumor that the Bills even looked good last week...but I live close enough to dismiss that one for now.

Suffice to say, the only way the Steelers get back to the dance is by act of whatever entity you believe in as a higher power. Mathematically, I doubt they can lose any of their remaining games yet they would still need help.

No, they are playing in a tough divison and the AFC is obviously the stronger conference in the NFL. They have to compete with Baltimore, Cincinnatti, and Cleveland. They are 3rd in the divison after this week. They have no passing game with Big Ben throwing 2 picks a week and Bill Cowher won't give Parker the ball 30 times a game, because that will take a toll on your body after 2 weeks. Their defense isn't nearly as good as last years superbowl championship team. They don't seem to be playing with emotion either right now, they are a flat team.

Stick a fork in them this year. Too many other good teams ahead of them in a very tough AFC. Even if the Steelers win out their remaining games, there would be no guarantee they get in.

With Kansas City, Jags, Denver... ya right... There is a chance again that a 10-6 team in the AFC might not make the playoffs. They started playing for pride long ago.
