What the hell is that black smoke? Ive seen series 3 episode 5 and i still dont know what it is, any ideas?

have you seen the other seasons? in season one the French chick described it as a type of "security system" on the island. i dont know if that is accurate, but last season during one of the episodes Eko had an encounter with the smoke. we actually traveled through the smoke. it seemd that it was scanning him, and showed various people and scenes from his life and then went away. why it decided to kill him this time i'm not exactly sure. i'm hoping that more is revieled on this in the second half of the season.

It's been there since the first season and they still don't know what it is, The only two people that haven't been afraid of it are Locke and Eko (but look what happened to him). They just call it a smoke monster. Still no clue what it is though.

I watch it. but i have no idea what it is. i missed most of the first season but i've seen all of the second and i still don't know what it is either, so sorry.

I started watching it, and was extremely interested. . . then i missed one episode, got annoyed cause i didn't know what the heck was going on, and stopped watching it. o.o

I dont like the black smoke it killed Ecko!!! I thought he was a good character..........eventually

I think it's something like feeling weak or hopeless. If you are strong in your character, it can't get you. But if you fear it and are weak, it will surround and kill you. It's like being trapped in a major depression.

not anymore since Sky took it from C4..do not have sky tv and cannot yet recieve free view
