for me, my definition of a friend is someone, who regardless of their gender, age, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality and religion, you can rely on and turn to in time of need. you can tell them everything and anything, and they don't judge, laugh or make fun of you. they don't shout, become aggressive, nor resort to verbal abuse. a friend is a person who is loyal, respectful, supportive and often someone of whom you share the same interests or has a few things in common with yourself.

plus, i'd like to know as well are you best friends with mainly men, women or both? and also what makes a friend 'a friend', as opposed to someone like a work collegue who you get to know on a work basis? how good a friend are you to those you know and get along with? does friendships last forever, or do you make new ones as the years go by and as you get older? do you have any experiences or treasured memories of old friends from school etc?

as ever, i look forward to reading your suggestions

A friend is someone who will laugh with you at the stupidest things.
Someone who never puts you down. Someone who will always listen to you no matter how rediculous your problems are. Someone who will straight up say "Yes, your butt does look fat in those jeans".

Best friend - Tighter than a fat kid in spandex.

My friends are mostly guys. I don't get along with females all that well.. never have. I had a best friend for literally ten years. We no longer speak or see each other so I can't answer the question about forever. I have made maybe 2 actual friends in the passed 3 years, though. Two really good friends are better than 20 "so-so" friends. I have tons of memories and pictures with my childhood friends.. and still love most of them to death. Soo that's my idea!!

friends are important, your friends should help bring positivity to you an you to them when there is negative stuff goin on around you or happening to you. that listen when you need to be heard are unjudgemental toward you no matter what you do, to pick you up when your down, that understand you but offer their opinions an advice an to be honest an truthful about it whether it be good or bad. I think some friendships can last forever, if you know each other so well inside out almost and know you can trust them and be objective aswell, an shared alot with each other both good an bad.

I like a friend to have a sense of humour, the dafter the better, someone reliable and who I can trust. My best friend who I had been friends with for 7 years after she moved in down the road, moved again 5 years ago and I don`t see her any more. I have some good work colleagues though, and they are all female. I don`t believe you can have a best friend who is of the opposite sex. The best friends I had at school have all left the city, so I don`t have any contact with them any more, in fact I found out that one of them has died recently.

the qualities i look for in a friend are understanding trustworthy people you can talk to easily and are there when you need someone to lean on. oh they know how to cheer you up as well!
