who thinks the bcs is a joke? i think its pathetic that a team like florida or arkansas wont be in the title game when the sec is the toughest confrence in the country, our weekest team could easily beat michigan, its not fair to florida who should be undefeated if it wernt for the refs in the auburn game!! they need to change the bcs. anyone agree?

Michigan has a weak schedule for the most part, but they
crushed Notre Dame in South Bend, and they lost a close game to the best team in the nation in Columbus. SEC's weakest team
is arguably one of these three teams (Vanderbilt, Mississippi or
Mississippi State). If you think Michigan would lose to any of these teams, you're deluded. Vanderbilt lost to Michigan in Ann Arbor. SEC maybe the strongest conference in the nation, but strength of schedule, and out of conference opponents play as much a role if not more than what conference the team plays in. Ole Miss lost to Wake Forest and Missouri this season, whose
teams aren't as good as Michigan. What makes you think they
can beat Michigan? I think you have a poor understanding of what is involved in the BCS. Mississippi State lost to Tulane, and West
Virginia (which is a good out of conference team), so the argument they could beat Michigan is absurd. Florida has two
very close games (Tennessee and South Carolina) that could have gone either way. Western Carolina and Central Florida
aren't exactly strong opponents for the Gators, while Southern
Miss is leading their conference, they aren't exactly a power outside their own conference, losing to teams such as Tulsa,
Virginia Tech (decent team), and East Carolina. You better hope
Notre Dame beat USC on Saturday, because a USC win will
vault them past Michigan in the BCS. Michigan played #2 Notre
Dame on the road and crushed them, and they played #1 Ohio
State on the road, and lost in a close game. If the SEC was so
good, why did the SEC champ Georgia lose in the Sugar Bowl
to the ACC champ West Virginia last season? Why did SEC#2
Auburn lose to Big 10#2 Wisconsin in the Capital One bowl?
Sure, the SEC won Peach, Outback, and Houston Bowls, but these are less prestigious bowls than the bowls they lost in. They also lost in the Independence Bowl, when a Big 12 team, Missouri defeated an SEC team, South Carolina. So, their bowl
record from the most recent completed season was 3-3, meaning they are middle of the pack, not best of the bunch among the six power conferences. The bowls are what determine who is the best, not the rankings or the polls.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I think the BCS is doing exactly what it is designed to do: get people talking about college football. I am not going to defend the system, because it is not worthy of being defended. But there is one point I would like to make, at least we do get a match up, however unworthy, of two of the best teams in college football. I remember, years ago, when the major conference winners only went to specific bowl games. Where was the fun in that? There were only 2 ways to get a #1 vs #2 match up. If the two top teams were in the PAC 10 and Big 10, they would meet in the Rose Bowl, which didn't happen very often. The other way, just as improbable, would be for one of the #1 or #2 teams to be either independent or from a minor conference that had no bowl tie in to play the winner of one of the major conferences in its bowl. The BCS system is not perfect, but then again, who wants its to be perfect? If it were, what would we have to complain about?

The BCS is the most atrocious thing if ALL of sports. Its horrible and it NEVER ever shows who the true natl champion is. Now ur going out on a limb saying the SEC's weakest school could beat Michigan, b/c I think Michigan and the Big10 is right up there with the SEC. I think it should play out like this......

Florida gets in 1st if they run the table no questions asked. They will have lost just 1 game and it was to a very very good 10-2 Auburn team.

Michigan gets in if Florida were to get beaten between now and the title game. They were screwed on a bad penalty but if you watch the game they werent really in it the whole time being down by double digits for most of the second half. BUT it was at Ohio St. and they did lose by just 3, and on a neutral field I believe Mich. could get them.

Those are the only 2 teams who should have a shot at the natl. title game.

USC shouldnt get it b/c you have to take into account good W's and bad L's, and they are the only 1 loss team (w/ chance) that has a horrible L to a decent at best Oregon St. team (7-4).

Arkansas blew their title hopes in the 1st game to USC and its impossible for them to leap over USC now b/c of a beatdown, had it been close that wouldve been a diff story BUT they did have their starting QB/RB out during that first game for well over 3/4ths of the game, but thats no excuse for the defense to allow 50.

Notre Dame got DRILLED by Mich. in South Bend, they shouldnt be able to leap over Mich. even if they beat USC (unless they beat them by 80+ pts and that will not happen).

So it comes down to Florida and Mich, I say Florida if they run the table b/c they havent lost in 6-7 games and Mich. already had their shot at Ohio St. If Florida loses then Michigan b/c there isnt another team who deserves it more.......

circulate back to the way is substitute into in the past. Playoffs won't help. sixteen communities intereferes with the extensive-unfold season and you threat harm. Remeber this might nicely be a school interest, no longer professional. it extremely is a brutal finished touch interest unlike basketball. it extremely is no longer extremely surely worth the wellbeing threat of those student athletes to does this. in case you circulate to eight communities, nevertheless too many communities skipped over and you have solved no longer something. Basketball has sixty 5 now and each twelve months human beings cry approximately getting skipped over. Blame the SEC for the BCS. They have been given inclusive of huge East and massive 12 and desperate this substitute into an astounding thought. it may enable extra of thier communities to circulate to important bowls and smash up the percent10 - huge 10 relationship that ruled national pastime. the huge 10 and percent10 pronounced you adult adult males are extremely stupid and no thank you, 6 years later in 1998 they broke down and joined after this "BCS" gadget substitute into becoming chop up chamionships between polls and the different leauges conform to comprimise and depart the bowls intacted and on no account touch the rose bowl. Then in 2003 Miami left for the ACC and the huge East went to heck. Then Miami and Florida St had some extreme subjects that tarnished their classes for years to circulate and this extremely only weaked the ACC recruiting classes. yet keep in mind it continues to be all a money element they have been after. yet each and each twelve months those BCS communities get token scores to spice up the validity of the gadget (right it extremely is the flaw). it extremely is propigated by utilising the media with smoke and mirrors. I.e. Basicly blame the media, blame the voters. those are the two communities you will on no account do away with, so no remember what you do it extremely is tousled.

uhh, for the record, Michigan did play the weakest SEC team earlier this year.. and they totally destroyed Vandy!

There are lots of tough teams in the SEC, but then again, lots of tough teams in ALL conferences..

the myth that SEC is way better than all the others is just that, a myth!

Last year at the Sugar Bowl, the SEC champ lost badly to the Big East Champ.. hence, more proof that all conferences are tough.

but overall, i agree that a poll is not the best way to decide who the best 2 teams are..

in the end, don't worry.. if the SEC champ is a one-loss team, then they will likely get the title shot against Ohio State no matter what the others do..

Yes the BCS is flawed. Your rant about the SEC aside, it is the only system we have and will have to live with it until it gets dumped or changed. As for the SEC's weakest team beating Michigan, all I can say is, "Dream on". As for bad ref calls, live with it . We all do. It is something that is going to happen whether we like it or not.

This BCS always was and always will be a really bad idea. In virtually every other sport, at any level, there is a playoff system in place, the NCAA needs to implement this system for NCAA 1A football.
