There is nothing wrong with your Chi's eyes! They have very large slightly protruding eyes which if not continually moistened would dry out causing abrasions, cataracts, infection. Just wash his face if there is crust, many dogs and cats with bulbous eyes get this. Don't put medication, unless prescribed by the Vet. I have one book that says some Chi's get so many tears, especially when in sunshine, that when they shake their head tears go flying! So don't. worry. Go to the library and get a couple books on Chihuahuas they have quite a few peculiar traits in their genetics.

I had a Chiuhuahua and his eyes watered all the time. Chiuhuahuas usually have eyes that stick out farther than a normal dog's eyes. Sometimes their eyes get dried out because of that and they have to produce tears to keep them wet. That's why they have watery eyes.

I am assuming you already saw your vet? Sometimes dogs have a condition where there eyelids turn in and the eyelashes irritate the eye. This can be corrected with surgery, and your vet will determine that.

Is it a long hair chihuahua? If so, then probably because the hair keeps on getting in his eyes. If there are brown stuff under his eyes, then it is caused by the hair.
