I am a key worker and would like to get on to the property market, but i am unsure of what the Key Workers scheme is all about?

it is a way of you buying part of a house.
say the house costs £150,000, and the local key worker scheme agrees to allow you a grant of £50,000.
You buy 2 thirds of the house, with a mortgage that you pay, the key worker scheme buys the other third.
When you sell the property, the keyworker gets a third of the selling price and you get the rest.
The only downside is that you also pay a notional rent on the part of the property that you dont own.
It works and allows you to buy a property you would not otherwise be able to afford.

When I was unfortunate to be working , I had some of the people working for me who had the chance of Key Workers property, What IT is that you have to be employed or have a trade that is required in the area, in that you are a key worker in the place where you work and it would be beneficial to the firm if you had accommodation near by, to get one you need a letter signed by your employer stating that you are a key worker, and that it would be of greatly appreciated if they would assist you in getting a house/ flat, you present this to the Housing association for them to assess you along with the other applicants, if you are pr oven to be of the status you will get one, if you are self employed , explain you have recently moved into the area and that you have a key trade that would be beneficial to the area , people who get them are nurses firemen police , but factory workers also get them so have a go

some councils keep property aside for the key worker scheme.
it means that if a company can bring you into the area because they cant find someone with the skills they need, then they can apply to the council to house you under the key workers scheme.
biggest problems are therefore you have to be moving job and i dont think it runs anymore anyway
