i am only allowed 1 break per hour......can i ask for more or would this be a bad idea?

yes, it's a bad idea. For one, asking for more smoking breaks in any job I don't think is right, but for a model...that's even worse. The term "model" implies something to follow, like an example, and yet smoking is not something to be followed. I agree with some of the other answerers, if you want to keep your career as a model going, quit smoking...it will be worth it. Besides, you will want to stop sooner or later, everyone does...

1 per hour? How many cigarettes do you smoke a day?!?
I work a 10-hour shift at a gym, usually with no breaks. Even when I do have breaks, I usually don't smoke (unless I'm really desperate) because I don't want to come back to work smelling like smoke.

I am an artist, in my experience the model is given several short breaks every few minutes due to the hard work of posing in strange positions, but is given the one break per hour for smoking or whatever they chose. I don't think you should ask for more as it doesn't seem appropriate.

Not at all. You need more breaks, but is it their biz as to what your breaks are for. When you get additinal jobs in the future, let them know that you need additinal break time that way you can enjoy smoking more. It's important to you and your lifestlye. A large percentage of successful models smoke, and for good reason. I honestly feel that a model is not complete unless she fully expresses herself and there is no better way to do then to have a freshly lit cigarette as an extention of a modern woman going places in the world.

No, I'm not a model but I have to wait 2 and a half hours for my first smoke break at work and an hour and a half for my lunch, another hour and an half for my last break.
If you get one break every hour consider yourself lucky!

bad Idea.
don't mean to preach but just to lay out the facts. continue smoking and you will start to look much older then you are. my aunt has been smoking since highschool, she is in her 50s but looks like she is in her 70s...she looked the same in her 40's. you wont have that modle job for long if it continues
who knows, the lack of breaks couold be good for you
chew ice, it cuts cravings, so I hear.
plus you get one break per hour...if you choose to coninue smokeing, you really shouldnt smoke one every hour anyway, that is even worse. try every other hour?

Well, you can always ask... If your good at what you do then I would guess they might work with you. If not, maybe some nicorete could bridge the gap...
