happiness and peace

2006-11-24 04:05:58 · answer #1 · answered by sasha 4 · 0 0

I don't know if anyone really knows. Some people want happiness but what will ultimately make you happy and will anything really bring you true happiness, I don't think so because we as people are always changing and expecting more out of life so we may reach a certain point of happiness but then feel the need for more. For ex. you might think finding the person of your dreams will make you happy, but after that you might think having kids with the person you love will make you happy and so on. So it might be happiness but then it might just be the search for more. Who really knows?

I believe life is about lessons and love, thats just my personal belief and opinion. I believe every soul has lessons to be learned in life and that we keep going thru life times until those lessons are learned. I also personally feel friendships and love are our greatest gifts in life and believe that all souls are searching for true unconditional love from other people you know to love and be loved in return. And the lessons things like you eventually learn that you can not change anyone and that people never really change things like that are the lessons i'm speaking of, Good Luck!

Good question mate, and some very good answers too, but the search never ends, bcoz all of us are looking up to life in a materialistic view, that is, we are all bound to our attachments to the world, until there is a determined break away from the attachments of the world the search never ends, for eg: some one mentions peace of mind as the final destination, what is peace of mind, an introspection would reveal it is the happening of events connected to our life in the way we want it to be. our peace would be immediately disturbed the moment events follow somebody else's contrasting wishes as against ours.
The search or destination that we are looking for is in our selves than in the world, we are all looking for peace at mind, or rather more clearly we expect to reach a mental state of mind that is free from worries and pain, but to achieve that we have to break free from all worldly attachments be it human,or materialistic, that is only the begining of the search. truly the search destination would be the answer to the serch itself, "True Enlightenment", that is the meaning and purpose of life, something that Gautham Buddha achieved some 2000+ years ago. and that is the same our mythilogical scrpts term as "Kaivalya" a component of "Moksha". until we shed the blind fold of materliastic approaches towards life, our search is never bound to find an end bcoz, human cuirosity and desires have never known boundaries. the want to fulfill the desires has no end and more often than not, most of us(including myself), inspite of knowing these truths, start the search with worldly desires in perspective and blame life itself for th e never ending search. We seek eternal peace( often misjudge money as a means of acheiving it), but the path that lies ahead of us to eternal peace is a very tough one, and very few have been able to tread the path. so we find the lesser of the two, pursue life seeking and searching for materliastic pleasure.

It depends on one's age and stage.
I think in childhood we want to become grown-ups.
In adulthood we crave for childhood.
Sometimes we need or think that we need two opposites at the same time, Example we want to be single and crave company and marry and want to be alone.
We search and research ourselves.
We search for the meaning in confusion.
Humane approach to all events , people and situations is the answer.
One last point "Uddharet Aatman Aatmaanam"
ie: We can lift the self by self alone.
No outsider can lift us out of our blues.
We have to go to busy and alive and healthy places to forget our dilemmas and rejunavate.

Life is a series of delusions and glittering distractions intent on making us forgetful to the reasons why we are here and what we must do with our life. Absolute Truth and truthful living are made hard when people, instead of looking to Heaven for guidance like the desert traveller, look down to earth and get lost in an endless sea of shifting sand dunes and mirages and in the process get caught in the trap of materialism. http://searching_for_truth.blogspot.com/

we really donot know what for we are searching in life. Because human beheaviour is such that they always want to know new things which they do not know.

I knew that we knew typing, writing, reading, walking etc.,

I knew that we do not know swimming, flight simulation, rocket operations etc.,

I do not know what i really do not know..many things unless i see them.

So , we too keep searching for the things which we do not know.
