I looked up your question on Snopes.com to see if it was just an urban legend, but I couldn't find anything about it. Usually something like that will come up as false, so I was surprised when it didn't. I say try it -- the worst thing that could happen is you will get your old jeans back.

Yes, Levi's is known for their tough material and mines were worn out between the legs, sent them and they replaced them.
