Hello, I would say it all depends on what you are hauling and how far. I have an 99 freightliner with a M14 500 hp with 475 hitting the rears. This is a little too much power and would be only good for climbing hills back east or up north. Consider what you are hauling and its worth once you come off the road and want to stay local.

i like the volvo because of the smooth ride and it really quiet on the road,but the freightliner has a really large bunk avaliable,you live in the truck so different things will be important to different people
