Asexual reproduction is when an organism reproduces without a mate. Because there are no new genes, there is no variation in the offspring's appearance. This means that the children will look exactly the same as the parent. Organisms that reproduce asexually are hydra, stromatolites and strawberries.

Whereas in sexual reproduction, there is variation. If one of the parents has red fur and the other has white fur, the offspring may be any of those colours. Humans, cats and elephants are all examples of organisms that reproduce sexually.

The term is used in botany. Sexual reproduction of plants means that the seed was harvested and planted. Asexual reproduction means that plants were increased by other means.
One of those means is bt taking cuttings. Tips of branches are planted and kept moist until they produce roots.
Another method is called layering. A branch is bent down and pegged to the ground and covered with soil. In a few weeks it will produce rooth, and can be cut from the main plant.
Grafting and budding are still other ways to reproduce asexually.
