Humidity is the key to keeping the cilia working, the mucus flowing and the sinuses drained.
The Home Remedy is that you stand in the hot shower enough to fog up the mirror,Or you can lean over a pan full of steaming water with a towel draped over your head, creating a steam tent. Inhale the vapors as they waft up toward your nostrils.
Mix 1 tea spoon of table salt with 2 cups of warm water and a pinch of baking soda. Pour it in to a shot glass, tilt your head back, close one nostril with your thumb, and sniff the solution with the open nostril. Then blow your nose gently.Repeat on the other nostril.
Also use garlic,Horseradish - order Cajun food.

Drink lots of water, that's the first bit. Probably why Claritin bugs you so much actually. It dries you out quickly, and leaves you severely dehydrated. However, if you're looking for something that does work, without medications, then there are some excellent natural remedies available. Here's what I use, and there really are no measurements, be liberal: Onion soup Heaping amounts of garlic Additional onions Chili Powder Pepper And anything else that is spicy that you can think to put in it. When you go to eat it, you'll probably only want to do one cup at a time, but breathe in the fumes ( I mean, the steam) and drink it slow. It burns, you'll probably want a shower after words, and you'll definitely want to brush your teeth. But, it helps immensely with any sinus troubles you may be having. Clears 'em right out. I've used it for sinus infections myself, and it works extremely well.

Try pressure point therapy. you can do it yourself but you'll need to get a good reference book. I've tried the points for sinus problems and it really helps clear things up. I'd try and describe them to you but I don't want to get it wrong, you really need the diagrams! Plus filling a bowl with hot water, adding an essential oil and breathing in the steam helps me.

I use a mixture of essential oils to open sinuses. A few drops of lavender, eucalyptus, and pepperment essential oils on a tissue and inhaled through the nose will open sinus up instantly.

STUFFED NOSE:

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Try having (a vegetable sushi with) Wasabi Sauce. the strong 'fumes' will clear your sinuses in seconds.

also you may want to try horseradish sauce in a sandwich. try the sandwich pal brand.

try exercising. as you exert yourself you will find your sinuses will clear.

try inhaling hot mist/steam. (turn on the shower on the hottest and close the door and window to the bathroom, the room should fill with steam in under 5 minutes. sit and inhale through your mouth. if you can sit in the shower and avoid the water you will get the most of the steam - alternatively, you can go to your local pharmacy and get a "mister" for under $50)

try a rest with your nose covered. it may feel a bit stifling at first, but persevere... in a minute or two it will clear.

do 15 pushups (same idea of exercising)
