"You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" was sung by voice actor Thurl Ravenscroft, later well-known as the voice of Kellogg's Tony the Tiger.
I would've guessed Boris Karloff, the narrator since its a similar deep tone.

Thurl Ravenscroft , not only was he the voice of Tony The Tiger for the cereal Frosted Flakes, he was an accomplished voice actor known avidly by fans of Walt Disney. He did narrations for many of Disney's documentary films and was also a voice of the Haunted Mansion.

It was the voice of Tony the Tiger. His name was Thurl Ravenscroft. He died of prostate cancer at the age of 91 though.

I know it isnot him but it sounds like James Earl Jones basey voice with his inflections and nuances.
