I am working on my Masters and will graduate next year. Is there a time when I can place it with my other credentials but as a candidate for the degree?

You use "candidate" when you start the porgram,
"graduand" when you successfully complete and are waiting to formally graduate and
"graduate" when you are formally handed your accredation.

I think you can use "candidate" once you've started coursework towards your masters degree and if you intend to finish your program.
