Some "active X) are not safe. Your IE, is showing you the display when a webpage or a download requires the use of active x. You should see a gold bar at the top of every webpage where this happen. And all you have to do is left click on it with your mouse to allow or deny active x to be installed.

The decision you make is based on your trust of the webpage and the download of the software that you desire. If you trust the software and the webpage then allow active x to be installed. If you don't trust or know why acive x is required don't allow.

This is an issue where you have to use good common sense to avoid a virus or spyware being installed without your knowledge.

Myself I would never go to tool, internet options and check off allow all active x. As this will only create a higher security risk for you. You want to take each case on an individual basis.

Open IE. Go to Tools > Internet Option, click on the Security Option. Click on the Custom button and check the first 7 options listed there for the ActiveX.
