also, why are the portion sizes so small? When I went to McDonalds there, I asked for a regual coke and regual fries, instead it turned out to be a kiddie size coke and a kiddie size fries. In the states, the portion size so much bigger.

That's why there is an obesity epidemic in the States. Portions in the Philippines reflect moderation in food intake. They are not small, they are just right or as it says "regular". And, regarding the napkins, we should do our share to help the environment. Paper products come from trees and the more you use, the more trees are killed. Thinner napkins might be made from recycled materials or there is just less pulp used.

napkins, depends on where you dine, or what brand you buy.

McDonalds, yup portion size is really small, most Filipinos have small appetites, and asians are relatively slimmer than Western people ( result of small portions and genetics). Plus if you are going to compare the price of McDonalds, in the Philippines you can buy a McD meal for $1, in the US thats only 1 dbl cheese burger , oh yea plus tax! :-).

Philippines meal : $1 to 1.50
US meal : 3.50-4.30$

Because most people in the PH, to put it nicely, are on a budget. Portion and package sizes are small because many people only have a few pesos in their pockets scraped together day to day and can't afford to buy in bulk or even normal American sizes. Napkins, like many other things, including clothing, are manufactured at the absolute minimum standards that people will buy them at, in order to save money. Call them cheap, call them practical, but they aren't going to change until the economy grows. They think they're lucky to have any napkins at all, because at home they likely have none.
