I am amused at the way socail services handles some things. I'm trying to get a handle on one of my friend's problems.

My question to you is, do you think you would tell anyone if you were abused?

As for being abuse as a child, I did tell people, and they did not listen, The social serives of children and Families has came a long way to listen, investigate of reports of children are being abused, and placing them out of danger! You tell me, how would you like if you were 4 years old to 19 and being fully sexually abuse by your father and live with this trauma, memories of not able to have control to just say NO! Children are depending on us, the society to keep them safe, and to fight for them! Many years of counseling, and therapy has help, but you just don't get over what horiffic childhood you had, it is the same version as our soldiers fighting in wars and the trauma that they expericed will haunt their memories and dreams, it is called Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome disorder!
If you are a friend who is being abuse? You can be his/her help of words to find safety and live a normal life. I hope this helps your answer. Call the child abuse hot line and report abuse it is your duty of society to be a child's voice to keep kids safe!

Absolutely yes. The abuser needs to be punished, for the sake of those he may abuse in the future. And believe me, and abuser does not stop. I would tell everyone I could who would listen, and press charges if I could. I would take something like that all the way. Those people need to to "outed"!!!! Yes, the "system" isn't easy, but that is not an excuse not to act on something like that.

I would like to say yes but you don't know I guess till you are in that situation cause a lot of the times the abuser threatens the victim with killing family members and things and sometimes the victims are more embarrassed because they think it is their fault...

My mother used to hit me a lot and the way she did could have killed me, I did'nt tell anyone for years because I knew it would just make things worse. So there was this whole sha-bang and my friend ended up finding out, told someone who could help me, who ended up calling the social services, they did'nt help at all.

So, no, definitley not. Just get through it and if you have to threaten the person, just make sure you don't end up that way.

i`ve heard time and time again that some in social services don`t listen which is wrong. there should be something done about this i think. they should be made to investigate it immediately. as it stands there must be thousands out there that have been abused but are put off by the thought that no one will listen or believe them. sooo wrong

yes! And I have. I have been abused and did tell. It took alot, but was glad I did. I would do it again. The best advice is this - have a strong support group around you and get counseling. IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. It NEVER is.

It's hard to get over abuse, sometimes... If I was abused when I was younger and continued to be abused, I probably wouldn't because it was what I was used to and that's what was normal for me.
If I suddenly started to get abused now, I would tell.

i would for sure..the quickerr the better before it gets to out of hand and before the abused person gets to scared to say or do anything. I think that if your friend is being abused (and u know) you better take her to see some one as soon as possible, and get them out of that situation..

I had a friend who put bug spray in her dads beer and he died and she went to prison for 10 years but won an appeal when her attorney found a six year old who he also raped.

Sure. Just like the people that get caught. Blame it on being molested as a kid. Oh, yeah. Don't have to unless you get caught.
