let the supplement be x
the equation
complement of the angle=90-x
supplement of the complement=180-(90-x)=90+x
twice the supplement of the complement=180+2x
180-x=180+2x-78
-3x=-78
x=26*

Let the angle be x

Complement is 90-x

Its supplement is 90+x

78 less would be 180+2x - 78 = 102+2x

So, 2x+102+x = 180
or 3x = 78
or x = 26

Interesting problem. well this is how i would do it.

x= angle
90-x=complement of angle
180-x= supplement of the angle
supplement of 90-x= 180-(90-x)

2[180-(90-x)]-78+x=180-x

just solve the equation
2[180+90+x]-78+x=180-x
360+180+2x-78+x=180-x

your final answer is 26

Recall:
COMPLEMENTARY- Two angles are said to be complementary angles if their sum is exactly 90 degrees ie (90 - x)
SUPPLEMENTARY- Two angles are said to be supplementary if their sum is exactly 180 degrees ie (180 - x)

let's call the angle x
-->
(180 - x) = 2[180 - (90 - x)] - 78
Solve for x

180 - x = 180 + 2x - 78
3x = 78
x = 26 degrees
