i think i know what your talking about. there are two authors that i know from your description about vampires, female author, and trilogy.
twilight and new moon by stephenie meyer
they're the first two books of a series, i'd doubt that it will be a trilogy, since the author is signed to write five books from the book company.
vampire kisses, kissing coffins, and vampireville by ellen schreiber.
they're the first three books of i'm not sure how many books the author is thinking of writing. but i know there's a fourth book.

it might be Lindsay Sands, but with the vaugue description, its hard to tell. she writes "Love Bites", and others like it. these books are sort of funny and romantic, is that the one you meant? or do you mean "Queen of the Damned" by Ann Rice? except that's not recent. i'd probably lean more towards the Lindsay Sans Vampire Series.
