i am not looking for a doctor to date. but i am looking for a new family practice doctor in the area and i would like for him to be gay. i just moved from a very rural area of alabama and there are no such doctors there. it would be nice to know that my doctor has the same feelings and issues that i do in real life. it does not matter if they are gay or lesbian.

I'm in Denver and have had both a gay and lesbian doctor. (I also have a lesbian insurance agent, vet, chiropractor, acupuncturist and massage therapist. I like to give my money to other dykes, plus I don't want to worry about how people will react to me.) Unfortunately, I am out of touch with both. I would swing by the Gay and Lesbian community center (which is on Broadway right around Ellsworth - it's five or six blocks north of the Mayan theater and the Walgreen's there. Broadway is one way southbound at that point, so you have to take Lincoln and swing around. Anyway, they should have a copy of the Pink Pages and other local directories. Good luck and welcome to Denver.

PS - to the people who don't think it matters, it actually matters a lot. I don't want to have to educate my doctor on lesbian health issue and I don't want my doctor to freak out when I come out. I had a doctor who did that and treated me quite badly.

Is this a new area of specialization? If it's so, I'm ready to quit teaching for practice in California.
