I've loved Tom Hanks ever since Bosom Buddies, so it's so hard to choose. He's been outstanding in so many, including Forrest Gump, CastAway, Philadelphia, Apollo 13 and You've Got Mail. But, I think I'll go with "Big" since 1) it's such a fun movie, 2) you really do believe he's a little boy (and he actually learned both from his little boy at the time & studied the actor's who played young Josh Baskin to get the moves right), and 3) it truly was a break-out role for him...validating him beyond Splash (which I also loved).
Also, by the way, I believe he is the youngest actor to receive the AFI Lifetime Achievement award.

Yeah, well Forrest Gump wasn't bad and Hanks did an excellent job in it. But my FAVORITE would have to be:
The Green Mile.

It's a tie between Forest Gump and Apollo 13. Both are great movies.

Just like the others, Forrest Gump. lt is well-made. Hope they make more movies like that. The story is good and all the actors are great. The special effects is oustanding also. Gary Sinese really looked like he lost his other leg.
