You see with your visual cortex located in the occipital lobe. We don't really see with our eyes, our eys are only the receiver. The information is procesed in this area and then interpreted along with many other relevant information coming from other integrative plexes in the brain, such as olfatory, tactile, etc. All of this stimuli get integrated in the experience of "seeing" something, which can be done even when is not with our eyes, and this is due to the ideas and associations stored already. Now, seeing beyond appearances and realizing that what you see is just an idea of the "real" object and not the object itself, in itself, this realization lifts the veil and you know that it's all our pereception alone and we can never inmediately perceive anything inmediately. It's all mediated.

You are actually seeing with your mind. When I close my eyes to picture something I still try to see it with my eyes. I think one of the hallmarks of enlightenment is when we see with our minds and not with our eyes. When I have a dream I still hear with my ears and smell with my nose. I saw this movie called The Waking Life. One of the characters said he was working on having 360 degree vision when he dreams. When I first heard this I thought it was ridiculous. Now I am thinking, why not? Try to have 360 degree vision. Attempting this will force you to rely on more than just your eyes, it forces you to see with your mind, the mind you have been seeing with all the time only you thought it was your eyes.
By the way, see The Waking Life if you can.

We learn imagination when we are young. Our parents mold how our imagination is shaped. This is why so many children have wonderful imaginations and so few adults. Many children lose the power because their parents did not push it. Children whose parents acknowledged and pushed the creativity continue to have creativity.

I think PERCEPTION is inside our mind, it is an electrical signal from eyes to the center of seeing and imagination is made from mind

the mind is a powerful thing. It has the power to make you see things that are not there. To make you not see things taht are there
Essentially your want to see it, so your mind makes you beleieve it is there.and thats really enough. SO..your seeing this with your mind, your "minds eye" so to speak

what is interesting is that your imagining him creates the same brain activity as if you were viewing him in front of you.
so it is the brain that not only sees, but creates.
yes, you create your boyfriend,
and,
he creates you.
