The nurse in this story gives comic relief. When she came back with an answer from Romeo about where to meet for the wedding she pretends to be out of breath and tired to tease Juliet. She also provides laughs for Romeo and his friends. The nurse is pretty much Juliet's mother and knows how she feels about things and when she needs a laugh. We just finished reading a discussing this in our English class and that is the answer my teacher gave us for that question. Hope I helped.

The nurse tries to make Juliet realise that she is no longer a girl and that she is a woman (even though she is only 13). Juliet has always looked to her nurse in place of her mother for comfort and sanctuary. The nurse assists Juliet in her betrothal to Romeo and is her confidant in her love matters. We would not know what is going on in Juliet's mind if we did not hear her conversations with the nurse.

The nurse is the go between the two lovers. She is Juliet's confidant and without her the two lovers couldn't communicate very much. She adds humour e.g. with her choice of language which is a poor attempt to sound like a noble. She speaks alot but hardly says anything. She is repetitive.
In one way she acts as Juliet's contrast. The nurse constantly changes her mind however Juliet. once she knows she loves Romeo she doesn't change her mind.

the nurse, more of a motherly figure than juliets own mother. this is because nannies ften bond with the children more, becuase at the time the mother didn't have a lot to do with the children except for disciplining them juliet is more worried about her nurses opinion than she is her mothers, because juliet looks up to her more than her mother.

She feels a loyalty to Juliet as a friend not just a guardian. she feels compelled to guide in the directions of the heart, however she herself doesn't seem a reliable judge of circumstances and situations. She is Juliet's only confidant and so she feels a need to help her, because Juliet has no one else to confine in.

I likened her to a kind of "fairy godmother" type of character. She was closer to Juliet than her own mom, and she was the bridge between Romeo and Juliet.
