The boy loves to play and laugh. He's very fun, but I don't know exactly what he likes.
The girl is a little lady, and likes to help out in the kitchen and stuff. What's a good gift for these two and not too expensive?

3 year old boy- try getting him one of those "sit-n-spins!" Little kids love them, and it would calm him down a little!

8 year old girl- try getting her a cook-book for little kids! She could help out in the kitchen and make easy things.

Good luck! =)

I'd say the best gift idea when you're not sure what to get would be a live phone call from Santa Claus.

I ordered a call from Santa at www.santacallslive.com last year and my niece and nephew loved it. It's a personalized call. You add the details and time when you want Santa to call. The best part is Santa records the call and sends it to you on CD to listen to. Their eyes lit up when Santa called them and couldn't stop talking about it.

I think they even offer santa letters, live video greeting from santa, and more.

Other ideas for a 3 year old boy would be transformers that transforms into a car. My nephew loves them. For an 8 year old girl who likes to help in the kitchen, I'd say you can't go wrong with an easy bake oven.

For the girl: A very large hardcover book of classic fairy tales. My fiance still has books such as these that were given to her between the ages of 5 - 10, and she cherishes them. Write a little message to her on the inside cover, wishing her a Merry Christmas.

For the boy, a muzzle and some Prozac. Just kidding. Hmm...for a hyper 3 year old boy, if they still make the Sit N Spin, you can never go wrong with that one. If they don't make it anymore, just look for something in a toy store that can be used all year long without a lot of setup, and something that does not require sitting down for long periods of time (except, of couse, if it allows him to spin himself silly like the Sit N Spin). Depending on how much you like the parents, make it something that makes a lot of noise! :D

For the little boy: try getting him a toy truck or a small electric guitar.

Little girl: See if she'll like either an Easy-Bake oven ( a tiny oven for young girls equipped with recipes and food mix) or an Electronic Handheld 20 Questions Game

My son is three and loves hot wheel cars and Thomas the train, I think all boys this age love cars and Thomas. As for the eight year old girl try a make up set, something for her hair or sparkly nail polish. Also Walmart has a great line of marykate and Ashley clothing that girls this age love!!! Good luck!!

A wooden train set with 4-6 pieces, wooden puzzles, Duplos, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, picture puzzles with 20-25 pieces, toy lawn equipment (rake, spade, hoe, hand digger), plastic pail, a good quality nerf ball, a set of small plastic farm animals with fences, a set of Hot Wheels metal cars, four puppets--lots can be found at 99 cent and Dollar Tree type stores!

Little boys love anything that has to deal with mechanics and cars, so a nice red with orange fire print remote control truck will do fine. Trust me, it makes almost any little boy smile.
Ah, good memories. The little girl reminds me of myself when I was that young, this should be easy. Her first, for kids, gourmet cook book. Rachel Ray has a good variety of those. Or the newer version of the easy bake oven, where you can actually cook real meals and snacks.
