There are kids out there without a stable home and family, in our country and others. Why do people continue to have kids when our world is so over populated and their are kids who could benefit from having parents???

Narcissism. They want kids that are little reflections of themselves, chips off the old block.

I have had the exact same question, actually had an argument with someone who felt quite strongly that you are not a parent until you have your own child. (of course he doesn't have kids)
My friend who is a mom says that it's time spent that makes the bond, and she doesn't think she'd love an adopted child any differently.
Personally, I'd be way more likely to adopt than have my own, for those reasons that you stated, and also because I believe that bringing a child into a life that they wouldn't have normally is much more noble than having a child who has a privileged existence simply because of birth

I suppose people feel that a child isn't really their own unless he/she is blood related. I was adopted and know perfectly well that you don't need to be raised by biological parents to feel loved and fulfilled.
I will adopt in the future as i feel the same way you do there are children who need good homes, I think a lot of people think that adopting a child means you will get a lot of excess baggage, but this isn't true. I was adopted 20 years ago and still have no urge to meent my biological parents. I have everything I need.
You don't have to share someones looks & characteristics for them to be family.

While growing up, I was going to do that! It made so much sense. But when I got married, the idea of us not have a baby that combined the two of us... it's just too amazing to not do. I assume you're not married. We're thinking of adopting one in the future but I will have my first two myself (one more to go). And another reason - unless you're Madonna, it's a very long proccess, and requires a lot of money.

I aldeady have my own. i prefer not extra. Adoption companies make it too annoying to undertake. Animal adoption companies make it to annoying to undertake an animal. something is easily incorrect with this image. it rather is somewhat uncomplicated to reproduce and make teenagers. We positioned them up for adoption or we abort them. Then whilst somebody tries to undertake, this is an prolonged costly technique. yet, the government will pay for many of those orphans. this is somewhat off. many human beings could desire to guard those undesirable teenagers. Politics make it impossible for the conventional kinfolk to undertake.

While I agree that we should be taking care of all children, especially those in most need, there are reasons people prefer to have their own. One is that it's the passing down of yourself, someone to carry on the family. Someone who is part of your favorite aunt who has passed on, and your grandfather, someone who is a piece of your family. Another reason is that their is something very spiritual about bringing a baby into the world, and feeling them inside you growing. It is an indescribable feeling.

Some parents just want to raise a child of their own. There are also lots of legal issues to toil through when adopting children.

If everyone thinks the way you want people to think, then there will be no kinds for adoption!

People would obviously rather have their own children than someone else's. They only turn to adoption when they have to due to infertility or whatever.
