Gosh how weird, i moan about that constantly. It's especially worse at night. When i have the volume down i can't hear a word of the programme but am deafened when the commercials come on. Honestly......

I heard that advertisers do this on purpose because they know that most people do something like "leave the room to make a cup of tea" when the adverts come on.

Therefore by cranking the volume up a notch they're trying to make you hear what they're saying while you're in the kitchen.

I hate it too. Cue the mute button.

Some brands of telly have "smart sound" or the same thing under a different name. Smart Sound sets the volume at the level you choose. When the commercial comes on smart sound will not allow them to change your setting so it does not boom and have to be turned down and back up when the show returns.

No, you're not. I always hit the mute button at commercials. Either that, or put the volume very low in case I leave the room so I can hear when my program is back on.

No, I share your pain too. The mute button gets well used in my house. What society needs, is a device that fits into the TV that detects advert breaks, and instead of pumping all that crap into our lives, instead plays MP3 of your choosing with an image of a nice roaring fire, or waves crashing on a beach. I would buy one.

It's so annoying when the shows really quiet so u have to turn it up then as soon as the adverts come on u end up deaf. I also hate how long adverts are getting its as if the advertisers think we r watching tv just for them. We aren't!

It doesn't really annoy me too much because my boyfriend never watches the adverts, he flicks over to the next channel until the programme comes back on!

You're certainly NOT the only one - and although ITV, 4 and 5 are bad, some of the digi chanels are unbearable - ParaComedy must surely take first prize !

Absolutley dreadful, especially late at night when you have to increase the volume to hear the program you're watching.

It sucks. Also different shows have different volumes. Why do they turn the music up when the people are talking so low?
