i have heard they gain faster but have a higher fat ratio- just seeing if anybody knew of anything else. cant seem to find anything on the internet.

Yes it's true. Chickens eating corn is the equivalent to humans eating candy. They have a very high fat to meat ratio, and personally I don't think are as good. Better to have a more varied diet and you will get a leaner, healthier chicken.

To increase the boilers weight like they do at the stores you must place the fowl in small pens. Keep lights on them for 24 hours seven days a week, also grind their feed into almost powder and mix dried pepper flakes in the feed. It is not healthy just to feed corn but a good balanced diet. 20 percent protein or more is best and all the fresh water they can drink. Also insure they do not have lice or parisites. Which steals valueable nutrition from them call your vet or local feed store can assist you.

By definition, broilers are chickens that are less than 6wks old. That's probably why you haven't found anything on the internet-- you're asking the wrong question!
