I work for a small startup supplier of home remodeling materials doing design and sales. I love what I'm doing at work, it's fun and rewarding and my customers LOVE me. I make substantially higher sales figures than anyone else there...which is reflected in pretty decent commission pay...but my boss is a big liar, she lies to me, to others in front of me, to everyone about both important and unimportant stuff. She's the owner of the company so there's no higher authority to appeal to. She's also shorting me on commissions, sometimes by substantial amounts, which I call her on when I see it. Again, I really love what I'm doing on a daily basis, but am really concerned about the bosses actions. What should I do?

switch to a different company. a company with a liar at the helm is not a good place to spend your life. the poison runs all the way through. remember: she is the one losing her best salesperson when you leave. since you get along so well with everyone, i'm sure another company will snap you up. pick one with a boss/manager you can RESPECT!

If you are being cheated on commissions, your boss is violating the law. Keep a detailed record of all transactions and start searching for a similar position. If you can find another position, take your information to your state wage and hour division of the labor dept.. If you can't find anything you like, you will have to confront her or bite the bullet. This being said; everywhere you go there will be people who don't follow the rules or don't like you, for no good reason. Just do the best that you can and the good people will out number the bad ones. Good Luck!

Maybe try looking for another job in the same line of work? If that is not an option, make sure you send memos to your boss and have all your money and other queries in writing. It is even better if your boss can sign them, this way if you need to go to court you have have proof of outstanding monies and misconduct on her behalf. Just because your boss owns the company does not give her the right to miss treat you, as an employee you have your rights as well.

If you decide to stay with this company I do have a little tip. I have a manager who is always worried about covering hiself and will throw anyone to the wolves if possible. I put EVERYTHING in an email. Even if we verbally have a conversation I will say "per our conversation on November 24th" or something like that. Email is considered a legal document and it helps to keep them and have a record that way if she say's things like " I never said that" or "I was never informed of that" you could always forward the email to her. It has been a life saver for me.

Obama is the bigger liar. Have any of you study his 'life tale'? RIDDLED with lies. He rewrites history to in effective condition his timeline/time table. they are the two liars, little question, be his lies are the bigger, darker ones which he defines himself with the aid of. Google his life tale inaccuracies, very exciting.

Not much you can do if she's the owner unless you want to look for another job. It's that, or keep quiet, you don't want to take the chance of her firing you.
