If the trans shifts ok and the ck engine light does not come on then i would say the speed sensor is working and the problem is related to the ins cluster.Has to be sent off or exchanged.

Modern vehicles don't have cable-driven speedo's anymore so it's either the speedo itself or the speed sensor on the tranny that sends the signal to the dash.
Close your eyes and say a little prayer...Hope it's the speed sensor which will set you back $50-$75. If it's the speedo itself consider a second mortgage.

if not digital it may just be the cable. either way it may require dis assembly of the dash. at the the otter end it should be a bolt and a few clamps. you check the auto repair Manuel witch is at the auto store or library.
this spell checker is"nt working

Is it an automatic, and if so is it shifting odd. If it is it may be the vehicle speed sensor. If not it is most likely the interment cluster. The latter you can't fix on your own.

If it is a 2005, you should have a 3 year bumper to bumper warenty, and should not cost you anything. If you bought it used, the warenty is transferable.

There aren't many quick fixes on cars anymore,
I would take it to a dealer.

I think you need to take it in. Not sure if there's any cable involved there.
