Well, I agree that in case of a nuclear attack taping plastic around the doors isn't going to cut it and I'd rather die sooner than later in that situation. But I do have emergency rations in case of a blizzard or an influenza epidemic. (If past patterns are indications, we are due for one soon and you're supposed to be able to stay in your house for two weeks.) I'm talking about the epidemic of 1936 (may not have the date quite right) that killed more people than the war.
So I have water, canned food, a camp stove and cat food. I asked for a tent heater for Christmas, in case it happens during the winter and the utilities go out. And now I feel like such a paranoid that I have to go sit by myself for a while and wonder if the dog next door is really an FBI agent.

moved as close to Ground Zero as possible (if it's gonna happen I want to go quick). I don't want the lingering death of radiation poisoning or starvation (everything will be irradiated).
in the event of a natural disaster I do have canned foods and preserves, candles for light and heat (and in the event that I had to -cooking), wood for fires, water (usually I keep a 2 week supply and swap it out with fresh water deliveries), I have an emergency crate where in I have more candles, matches (water tight), battery operated radio (I check it when I check the smoke detectors), sleeping bags, blankets, rain coats (the small plastic type that are only good for emergencies anyway), maps and a few $$ to get me to shelter or what ever.
to the other Canadian who is immune to radiation and thinks it'll automatically stop at the 49th parallel your an idiot (stop calling youself Canadian -- were suposed to be the smart ones)

I always have those types of items prepared, not for an attack but because I live in TX and have to be ready for hurricanes. I think the only way you can be prepared for a huge terrorist attack is by being spiritually ready.

I haven't thought about it. But I have canned goods, an outdoor grill and a pool for water. Of course, that would be contaminated, wouldn't it. I was in grade school during the nuclear scares in the 50's. We stored water and canned goods in the basement, had yellow and red alerts at school, and it all scared me terribly. Now, if I go, I go.

Yes, and sadly, I only did it recently. I have a backpack...with emergency supplies. Flashlight, batteries, am radio, rain ponchos, water packets, high calorie food bars, first aid kit, a thermal blanket, gloves, masks, candles, flares, glo-sticks, and more.
You can find good ones online. The Red Cross has one, but in my opinion...it's pretty weak. Everyone should have one these days...nto for nuclear attacks....but for terrorism and natural disasters. Use Katrina as your inspiration to get one!

I do some of those things. Canned goods and dried beans. Have would in the back of my garage just in case. Plus some extra bottled water and cooking oil.

In the event of a nuclear attack I intend to bend over and kiss my *** goodbye.
In the event of an earthquake (I live in LA), I have a stash of food, water, water purification tablets, a first aid kit, flashlight, batteries, radio, extra clothes, etc., at home and a smaller stash in my car.

none. The fact of the matter is if we are hit by a nuclear attack we won't need canned goods or water. I mean let's face it, Uncle Sam has the intel to hit us hard and fast and if he decides to launch another attack similar to 9-11 then we won't be able to prepare anyways. Do you realize how much effort went into to planning that attack? the CIA, the FBI, black ops military Intel. You'll never outsmart that kind of networking. And don't worry, they aren't going to light a nuke anyways, they can't collect taxes on a million dead people. Oh wait, yeah they can, its called inheretance tax. Oh well, I tried.

I've never really thought about it but from what I've seen on TV, I don't think we would survive a nuclear attack (All that radiation) as for any onther attack I'm not prepared and I if I could I would convince my family to prepare
