Use as much as you want. The best way to grow these crystals is to disolve sugar into about a cup of water over low heat. keep adding sugar until no more will dissolve (this can go on for a while so be prepared). You could just do a cup of sugar if you like.

Then let it cool and set the water somewhere it will not be disturbed but has indoor temps to sit in.

Wait for a while to all of the fluid is gone and you will have your crystals.
