I am an African American female and this question has been on my mind for a while. Why is it that so many people think that blacks can only be the "n" word. The word means ignorant, and to my knowledge, anybody can be ignorant. So many kids in my school say "I can't be a ****@ because I'm not black." I think that's ridiculous. What do you think?

I think, because of the fact that they are ignorant they don't understand they are just that. The "N" word. And they are so small minded they don't understand what the word means, or the history of it. And if they use the word they are beyond ignorant, racist, prejudice and plain dumb! God bless****

Shannon's right. If the word is so offensive to black people, then why do they call each other that all the time? Either the word is wrong or it's not, you can't choose when to be offended because of the colour of the person saying it (because that's being racist to white people). If black people think the N-word is wrong no matter who says it, then it should be consigned to history and left there to rot.

I think there must be lots of chiped lead paint in your school. There are humans dying of starvation HUMANS ,the longer WE use words like that or think of ourselfs as other than human and describe ourselfs as the color of our skin. Then it will conitnue. Your thinking is the problem. Join the human race dont use words that divide us and try and help. Dont involve yourself with that thought process. You are not a color you are a human being.
I think if The cival rights people who were hit in the head with baseball bats and attacked by dogs and hung from trees New that the youth had this attitude. Using that word.THey would be sick.

Well answer this, why if a white person uses the word ****@r all heck breaks loose? I just want a serious and honest answer, if one word sets someone off that bad that person has serious issues, call me a honkey cracker I don't gives a crap....

They are uninformed of that fact that anyone can be the "N" word.
Their daddy's told them it means "black person" because where it started or at least popularized was in the slave days. Now a days, there are more white "n" words than black..
