This may not work with your computer, I'm not sure what models have or don't have this option. But go into your control panel and click Performance and Maintenance. Once you're there, click System Restore. This is the part that I'm not sure about; some computers have an option to set the restore point at any date and other computers already have a set date. Try going through and see what date it is and do the system restore.

If you are using XP and have a HP do this.
Start
All Programs
Hewlett Packard
HP Pavillion Tools
System Recovery
Say Yes
And then it take off
F10 works the same say you just to Restore or Recovery. Restore take your computer back to a time that your computer was running better
Recovery you loss everything and take a good 4 hr to get your computer back to a place that it is safe. With the updates and everything and that with DSL if you have dial up I fill sorry for you...

I don't know what to tell you but there is no way without a recovery CD, unless you have a recovery partition on your computer. Not knowing your specifics its hard to say. Just download a copy of windows, get your drivers from the manufacturer's websites and do a format.

BTW - Pressing F8 before the windows splash screen gives you some options, but not quite what you are looking for.

Tapping the F10 will open the restore if you have a built in restore disk on your computer located on a different drive. Then you will be able to do a restore.
