check with the dealer,if you get a tire that is the same diameter you should be fine ,if you have three worn tires dont put on one new one,an example of what can happen is the chev astro van awd,if you did not keep the tires all the same size you would have transfer case issues very quickly,and costly.it really depends on the way the builder designed it

Probably. I know if you replace a tire you should replace 2 at a time or all 4. If its a front tire replace both fronts, etc.

I have always been told to always get 2 tires minimum at a time.. Just in case the different make is slightly different.. You dont want alignment issues later on.

As long as the tire has the same thread as the other tires, is ok.
For example, is you have radials, make sure you get a radial tire, and so forth.
